Tattoos!!!

What's up?

Well, its 12:26 in the am and I'm not to tired yet, so... I'll blog. about what you ask... tattoos.

On August 7th I'm getting another tattoo and I've finally decided what I'm going to get, but I'm keeping it super TOP SECRET from everyone! After Aug 7th, people will know what I got, but no one before that, except Austin because he's probably going with me.

I have the words VERITAS (Truth) and AEQUITAS (Justice) in Latin down the backs of my arms and when my grandma saw these she cried. She feels that it is a way to deform who I really am.

She asked me "Wilson, promise you won't get anymore tattoos."

I said to her, "Grandma, I promise to graduate High School and College, I promise I will get a good job, but I will not promise that I won't get another tattoo, because if I did that, I'd be lying to you."

My dad bought the tattoos I have for me as a High School graduation present and I thank him very much for that, but he's still not all to keen on my plan to get lots of tattoos. He always points out the 60-80 year olds with what used to be a bird but now are a blob or whatever andsays you want your tattoos to look like that, I say to him, they are well aware of what will happen to them when the age and they've excepted that, but it didn't devert them from getting a tattoo.

The reason I site them is because non-tattooed people's viewpoints (and yes I agree everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I support that).
If a non-tattooed person were to ask a tattooed person, "Hey why do you tattoo yourself?"

They could respond, "Why do you $2,350 a year on Starbucks" or "(fill in the blank)"

Non-tattooed people, I think, don't realize the reason people tattoo themselves. I say to people that it's artwork and I'm proud of the artwork enough that I'm willing to put it onto my skin forever.

I recently read Kat Von D's book HIGH VOLTAGE TATTOO and on the back of the book it says:

"I am a canvas of my experiences. My story is etched in the lines and shading, and you can read it on my arms, my legs, my shoulders and my stomach. But like everyone else, I was born naked and screaming, waiting for my life to write itself on my skin." -Kat Von D-

All the tattooed people in the world have many many reasons to get tattoos, and all the non-tattooed people have their reasons not to get tattooed and that's all fine and dandy.

But, I believe until you get a tattoo yourself, you will not fully understand why people tattoo themselves.

Have a great Monday,

Wilson "sic" Vessely

*NOTE*: The $2350 on Starbucks was on man's total amount he spent on Starbucks. the link is: http://thepassivedad.com/2008/08/confession-time-how-i-spent-2350-a-year-on-my-starbucks-addiction/ I tried to find a National average, although the avereage Starbucks person goes there six times a month. So in a National scale the number is off, but for the one example I used it. If anyone finds the National average spent on Starbucks, let me know.
